During the wintry months I began to feel increasingly bored of the rainy skies and general sludgy feeling, so I decided it was time for a rejuvenating hotel stay. I’d been to K West spa before but hadn’t stayed in the hotel. So I booked in for a Friday night to the iconic musical hotel once owned by the BBC recording studios.
Before we checked in we sat in the library and lounge areas for some coffee and to get some work done before the weekend. There’s a beautiful bar there too, which we were tempted by.
To distract us from sampling the drinks menu the lovely staff took us up to the room we’d be staying in, which had a large soft bed, plenty of wardrobe space and a desk. (not that we were planning to do anymore work)
Having been to K West before for a treatment, I knew that the spa was pretty impressive. After getting settled, we changed into robes and slippers and took the lift down to the spa. The spa has a huge jacuzzi with a waterfall that gets all the knots out of your shoulders. There is also light therapy, a steam and sauna room.
There are loads of cool bars and shops nearby to choose from for a night out. I’d recommend the Dorset Hotel for an Old Fashioned cocktail. The bar has a full height space rising up through the building, which looks rather spectacular.
We slept incredibly well and headed down for a yummy breakfast. I couldn’t resist a full English with all the trimmings. They also have a continental selection which you can help yourself to and some rocket fuel coffee.
We eavesdropped on some American band who were staying, I say eaves dropped – they were rather loudly chatting about their upcoming gig..which made us feel all the more rock and roll.
K West offers a retreat at the heart of Shepherds Bush – perfect for a short stay in West London.
