Kenneth Cole Collection: Spring 2013

Three looks from the Kenneth Cole Collection AW12 line.

After a seven-year hiatus Kenneth Cole is back to the runway with his Spring 2013 collection. Last season saw the 58-year old designer introduce Kenneth Cole Collection which served as his segue into higher-end luxury garments.

Renowned for his lighter, more whimsical and sparkier approach to womenswear, menswear, shoes and accessories, the low-key debut of the Kenneth Cole Collection AW12, differed from Kenneth Cole New York and Kenneth Cole Reaction lines by the very essence of its ethereal romanticism. Devoid of lace and Chantilly draping most commonly associated with the Gothic trend, Kenneth put forward a more chic, sharp and focused line that cemented his outreach into high-end sophistication.

Nipped waists, cinched silhouettes and tight forms over pony skin, knee-length boots, and burgundy hues upon monochrome palettes of white leather, grey tweed, navy corduroy and black fur formulated the shadowy feel of his AW12 line. This season however, Kenneth is bringing it all back to the catwalk, with an early preview presentation on the evening of October 24th at the New York Cedar Lake theatre which consisted of 40 models showcased on elevated platforms, his new SS13 line still maintains a chromatic range, but with lighter fabrics, softer effects and fluid, looser lines. Asymmetric tailoring with bold stripes and mesh materials are expected in February 2013, when his ready-to-wear collection will make a more public, forth-coming runway presentation alongside studded long vests, boxy jackets and leather slim-line trousers.

Consistently maintaining an urban attitude, which we doubt will ever cease to exist in any of his labels, the Kenneth Cole Collection makes for a smooth transition into luxury ready-to-wear.
