As I walked up the steps into this red and white 5 Star luxury Victorian townhouse hotel, British flag fluttering above me, porter warmly welcoming me, I immediately fell for London’s world-renowned class and charm. I was making the same walk many major stars had walked before me – including Samuel L Jackson, Sir Michael Caine, Elle MacPherson and Robert Redford. They could have picked any hotel in London to stay in. But it was soon easy to see why they’d picked St James’s
Stylish From Head to Toe
From the Penthouse suite at the top to the Michelin-star restaurant at the bottom, St James’s is class all the way through. After a 2006 makeover from major German designer Anne Maria Jagdfeld, the hotel’s guest rooms and suites showcase only the very finest interiors – including Murano glass chandeliers and walls lined with Loro Piana cashmere. Specially selected furniture and art abounds, including impressionist, expressionist and cubist works. The Terrace Suite I stayed in was resplendent with handmade silk wallpaper, gleaming ebony lacquered furniture, a golden king size bed, chic chandeliers, and a charming, vibrant garden terrace in full bloom.
And when I wanted some first-class food and drink to enjoy, tasty selections were served up – including Seven Park Place, a new Michelin-star restaurant from award-winning English chef William Drabble, and William’s Bar and bistro.
The Perfect London Location
But the St James’s Hotel isn’t just beautiful inside. Once you step outside, the very best of London is there to greet you. Mayfair, Buckingham Palace, St James’ Park, Green Park, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, the West End, so many London highlights are right there waiting for you to enjoy. So if you’re looking for a warm, stylish stay right in the heart of London you’ll find it at St James’s.
The biggest compliment I can pay to a hotel is the moment I check in I feel at home. The moment I check out, I feel sad. It’s a compliment I can easily pay to this fine hotel.
