A Mecca to motoring enthusiasts across the country, Goodwood showcases everything from exotic race cars to debuting the latest road-going launches. With 2012 marking the 20th Birthday of Goodwood’s prestigious ‘Festival of Speed’, the crowds were inevitably out in their masses, with a reputed 185,000 guests (including ourselves) making the annual pilgrimage.
Highlights were a plenty, but noteworthy standouts included Lotus’ giant sculpture installation to celebrate 50 years of their iconic lightweight Elan, which stood proud in front of Goodwood House. To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Cartier Style et Luxe concours d’elegance focused on the Queen’s transport, whilst elsewhere a host of Group C action marked 30 years since the introduction of the endurance racing legends, and dedicated paddocks showcased everything from the world’s greatest supercars to heritage Le Mans cars and even some treats for motorcycle enthusiasts.
