Grossmith - Baccarat Crystal Presentation
English perfume house Grossmith (founded in 1835) is delighted to announce a special edition of their three classic fragrances in stunning Baccarat Crystal flacons, exclusive to the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie, Urban Retreat, in Harrods.
This impressive presentation embodies the finest of English and French craftsmanship and encapsulates 175 years of perfume history. Grossmith has worked with Maison Baccarat to find the original moulds first commissioned for their exquisite ‘Serie de Luxe’ range in 1919.
Each Special Edition flacon is hand-blown in Baccarat crystal and etched with pure gold. Individually numbered, they bear both the Baccarat estampille and Grossmith monogram on the base. Victoria Beckham's £9k Selfridges Handbag
Not content with merely being a mother (fourth child, Harper Seven Beckham born on 11 July 2011). Victoria Beckham is back in the news unveiling a highly exclusive and elegantly stunning white crocodile-skin handbag for Selfridges. The white handbag features a gold link chain strap and will be retailing at £8,995 as part of Selfridges’ 2011 White Christmas collection.
While Beckham may not be a top designer, she certainly knows a thing or two about handbags, with a personal collection of over 100 Hermes bags worth over £1.5 million.
Unveiled at the Oxford Street Selfridges store on Friday, it could well cause some upset for animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), due to her use of reptile skins in her handbag designs. In the recent past, PETA had approached Victoria Beckham, requesting her to avoid using reptile skins in her luxury handbag designs due to the resultant suffering of lizards and other reptiles who are often skinned alive for fashion. However, the group has remained appreciative of her avoidance of using animal fur in her creations.
The Selfridges’ White Christmas 2011 line will officially be available at Selfridges.com as well as at retail outlets in London, Manchester and Birmingham from next month onwards.

Savile Row new blood: Spencer Hart

It was actually on a recent shopping trip to London’s Selfridges where I first became mesmerised by the exquisite brilliance of Savile Row newbie Spencer Hart.
I succinctly recall having scoured the majority of London’s West End, with a close friend who was looking to purchase a suit for his wedding. It was near the end of a tirelessly long day and literally nothing had ticked any of his boxes. Upon reaching the Spencer Hart department at Selfridges… “There it was!” It simply oozed such style, that it created that sense of occasion without having to shout it.
Spencer Hart suits in essence, elude to a more dynamic and younger spirit, with delicate cutting and intricate tailoring, resulting in a calibre of crispness so sharp it shuns the establishment. What really puts his name on the map (other than being based on London’s Savile Row), is the way he manages to gracefully squeeze in between his competitors. He has in a sense, eloquently utilised traditional couture, within a modern context. It is not to say that he has taken it beyond the norm, such as visionary peers Ozwald Boateng, Lanvin or Avi Rossini. His unique style is so subtle that it is on the double take that you find yourself captivated, exploring the finite detail and beauty of his creations.
I can honestly say with all sincerity that I have never been so taken a back by a suit, and needless to say that I am sure she will most definitely say “Yes, I do.”

The importance of a healthy Zinc balance
Wake up to…. Zinc!?! Let me explain why….
You need to sustain your energy and excitement to create and make a better world. To sustain growth and expansion your head needs to be switched on. No peaks and troughs, no lulls in energy, no mood swings, no cravings for sugar or alcohol. Sustaining your energy maintains peak state and is vital for achieving success.
Positive state is derived from proper nutrition. Vitamins and Minerals are stored in your organs and bones. If you are nutrient deficient your body depletes your vital organs first. Philanthropists and entrepreneurs need powerful methods to sustain their creative though processes. The basis of a healthy body is adequate Zinc levels and maintaining a Zinc/Copper balance. We get an overload of copper from copper water pipes, so we need to increase zinc intake to equalise it. Like everything in life, you need to be balanced. Getting your zinc levels up heightens your immune system and speeds up energy absorption. It controls testosterone and oestrogen levels, controls sugar and alcohol cravings, makes you leaner, assists concentration and maintains dopamine levels in the brain. It further supports brain function, increases sex drive, semen production and adds to an altogether a better sex life!
Having the correct levels of zinc ensures your health systems are working properly, making you feel more alive and excited to get up each day! Glucose is the one and only energy source that the body can use. Fat, sugar and protein have to be changed into glucose before the body can use them. Of all the glucose in the body your brain uses 50% of everything! Sugars are broken down into glucose though insulin, so with too much insulin, the sugar gets depleted before being changed, therefore with too little insulin the sugar runs wild [think crazy kids eating Smarties].
Zinc is fundamental in the transportation and equal dispersion of insulin. Zinc binds onto insulin and helps it slide around the body more effectively and more consistently. A consistent flow of insulin maintains a constant level of glucose which delivers health and vitality to your body from the moment you wake! [Get it now!] Everything you intake either benefits your body or draws from it. All nutrients absorb more readily if Zinc is predominant. The only ‘food’ that does not need Zinc present in order to produce energy is ALCOHOL!

The Zinc test – ‘Zinc Tally’
You must not eat, drink, or smoke less than one hour before the test. Then take the equivalent of a tumbler glass of the fluid and rinse your mouth with the fluid for 5-10 seconds, after which you can either swallow or spit it out.
Four different flavours now appear:
1- If it tastes like water you are typically zinc deficient.
2- No flavour to start, then a fluffy or metallic sensation, if sweetens you have a zinc deficiency
3- Strong but not necessarily unpleasant flavour, builds up little by little? = No zinc deficiency.
4- An unpleasant taste of copper coins in your mouth and signifies a good zinc balance.

The more successful you get the faster you learn to run, but winning races and achieving peak physical performance does not happen over night. It can involve hours in the gym, and repeatedly pushing your muscles beyond their comfort zone, but much like wealth creation, once you have jumped the first huddles then, you will soon find yourself pole-vaulting into new realms of success.
First you start off with small weights, (tens, hundreds of £’s), then after a few months the weights get heavier as you can lift more, jump higher and run faster(hundreds of thousands of £’s). Now that you are becoming fit and healthier, your mind is ready to go. If you are just going to remain sitting on the start line, or worse still, not even competing, then you are choosing to fail. Spectating is essentially little more than watching others succeed, becoming faster and wealthier by the day. The longer you remain on the sidelines, the less your chances of succeeding become. We are all humans and similarly made of the same basic ingredients, the only real difference between spectators and champions is the mental drive and desire to be successful. They have practiced more and put their bodies and minds out of their comfort zones in order by push that extra mile and in doing so, demolishing the opposition.

Versace to design for H&M; budget range
VERSACE will design for H&M this year, becoming the latest high fashion label to work with the Swedish high street brand.

“I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience,” Donatella Versace said this morning. “The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
The announcement marks a turnaround for Versace, who in 2008 claimed that a high street diffusion line simply wasn’t the Versace way. “I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand,” she told New York Magazine. However, rather than ‘diffusion’, this line is being sold as an ‘Iconic Collection’ for which Donatella will raid the archives of the Italian fashion house that was founded by her brother Gianni in 1978.
No doubt hoping to have the same affect on shoppers as Alber Elbaz last year, when his Lanvin for H&M collection sold out in a matter of minutes (with many items subsequently selling for even greater prices on eBay), Donatella will launch H&M menswear, womenswear and homeware which will go on sale on November 17 - shortly followed by a pre-spring collection that will be available online from January 19……..

Marilyn Monroe dress sells for $4.6 million
The famous white dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the 1955 movie “The Seven Year Itch” has been sold at auction for $4.6 million.
The pleated ivory dress, which flutters under the iconic star as she stands on a subway grate in the film, had been expected to fetch between one and two million dollars at the Hollywood memorabilia auction, held by actress Debbie Reynolds.
Reynolds was reported to be in tears as the sale was closed, as she parted with her collection of some 3,500 items of memorabilia she had amassed over four decades.
Now cream coloured due to ageing, the “subway” dress became part of one of the most famous images of the 20th century. Reynolds acquired the dress in 1971 when she bought all of Monroe’s wardrobe as it was off-loaded by the studio 20th Century Fox.
The entire sale, which included other items of Monroe clothing, was valued at $22.8 million…..
