With a hefty portfolio of six beautiful and traditional British pubs sitting pretty and perching perfectly south of the river, it’s hard to believe that Renaissance Pubs recently celebrated its tenth birthday. It must be with envious eyes and secret admiration that competition looks on, as each pub is wholly grandiose in its own right.
Said birthday required a party of course and the resultant shindig – devoid of screaming children, cheaply-iced birthday cakes and those shiny pointed hats – was a relaxed, sophisticated and chilled affair at The Avalon in Balham. Upon arrival, guests were ushered into the (luckily) sun-soaked beer garden, with its perfect balance of shelter, greenery and decking. Complimentary TEN London wine, TEN London ale and cocktails (my usual summer favourite, pims, stifled by the TEN London gin mojitos) circulated as the most tempting and delectable nibbles were fiendishly pounced upon.
The type of place you can imagine spending countless easy summer sundays, The Avalon is fantastically spacious with a similarly extensive ‘best of British’ menu that one has come to expect from each of the Renaissance venues. As one sipped and supped the delights on offer, sun showering us with delicate rays, I began to wonder: ‘What if you could eat and drink for free at a Renaissance pub for a decade?’…
Okay, so admittedly this thought wasn’t so random as it was summoned by a nearby leaflet encouraging one to enter a competition to win free food and drink for 10 years… In conjunction with the release of their own-branded libations (yes, the aforementioned TEN London wine, TEN London ale and TEN London gin was in fact a creation of the founders of Renaissance pubs) and of course in conjunction with their 10th birthday celebrations, Renaissance pubs are currently offering the opportunity to be fed and quenched for free for an entire decade!
