SUDA:Thai - providing a modern contemporary twist on Thai cuisine

A welcome addition to the trendy new St Martin’s Courtyard development, SUDA:Thai serves up cuisine that is as contemporary as the development itself. Set over two floors with the added addition of alfresco space, this restaurant is as stylish as they come, with the floor-to-ceiling glass front creating a particularly bright modern dining space. The stark contrast between the dark feature walls and light flooring is further opened up by the high ceilings with exposed structural steels and an industrious looking ventilation system that runs along it. Low hanging lights over the individual tables provide just enough intimacy for couples seeking a more secluded dining experience whilst a scattering of plants break the otherwise entirely open-plan space and keep the Feng Shui conscience at ease.

While our visit to Suda included a mouth-watering array of tantalizingly delicious dishes from thai style calamari to king prawns, sea bass tempura and some delectable noodle dishes, it was the unique style of the food on offer that would happily see us return, rather than our unique preferences on the day. The Cocktails were also incredible, with the ‘Thai Kick’ (chilli caipirinha) seriously packing a punch and one that hits the taste-buds square-on. Overall the dishes were excellent, spanning a journey of flavours from the spicy dishes of the North East of Thailand to the more sophisticated tastes of the central plains, yet all seamlessly presented with a contemporary twist. Service was also fantastic with attentive and knowledgable staff keen to help explain the menu and offering recommendations where required.

The food was served promptly, and bursting with life and vitality, although our only suggestion would be get table with the padded chairs if you intend to dine for long, otherwise it still makes a perfect quick stop before a night out in SoHo and certainly set us up excellently for what proved to be a great evening by all accounts.
